VERBS

WHAT EXACTLY IS A VERB ?

A verb is an action or in simple terms a doing word.  For example to speak, to eat, to live.  A regular verb follows a simple pattern and an irregular verb does not (although many irregular verbs do follow some kind of pattern, which we will talk about later).   Regular verbs in Spanish end in 2 letters AR, ER or IR and each group has its own pattern.

WHAT IS AN INFINITIVE ?

The infinitive of a verb is the whole verb.  The part which says to do something.  For example to speak or in Spanish Hablar.

WHAT IS A VERB TENSE ?

The verb tense tells us when the action is taking place  For example now, in the past or in the future.

WHAT IS THE VERB STEM ?

The stem of the verb is the part which is left after removing the AR, ER or IR from the end of the verb  For example if the verb is Hablar the stem of the verb would be Habl.

WHAT IS CONJUGATION OF A VERB ?

Conjugating a verb simply means changing the verb ending to say who is doing the action and when.

WHO IS THE SUBJECT OF THE VERB ?

The subject of the Verb is the person doing the action. This is shown by using the subject pronoun.
