ADJECTIVES
WHAT EXACTLY IS AN ADJECTIVE?
An adjective will describe or give more information about the noun. Adjectives can indicate size, color, shape, characteristics etc. E.g. la casa blanca (the white house), la casa vieja (the old house) or muchas casas (many houses). Adjectives can be masculine or feminine. They can also be singular or plural.
HOW CAN I TELL IF AN ADJECTIVE IS MASCULINE OR FEMININE?
Adjectives normally come after the noun. If nouns are feminine then the adjective must be feminine. If the noun is male then the adjective must be male.
E.g. if the noun ends in an “o” this will usually indicate masculine singular and the adjective will agree and will end in an “o”.
If the noun ends in an “a” this will usually indicate femine singular and the adjective will agree and end in an “a”.
HOW CAN I TELL IF AN ADJECTIVE IS SINGULAR OR PLURAL?
If nouns are femenine plural then the adjective must be feminine plural. If the noun is male plural then the adjective must be male plural.
E.g. if the noun ends in “os” this will usually indicate masculine plural and the adjective will agree and end in “os”
If the noun ends in an “as” this will usually indicate feminine plural and the adjective will agree and end in “as”.
