The verb IR is an irregular verb. This means it doesn´t follow the usual pattern. It is also a very important verb in present tense. This is used to say where someone goes and also used in place of the present continuous to say where someone is going or what they are going to do. For example voy a la playa – I go to the beach, this can also be translated as I´m going to the beach. IR can also be used for an action in the future using IR + the infinitive of another verb e.g. voy a trabajar más tarde – I’m going to work later.
